Watercolour | 4.5 x 5 inches I finished this little experimental watercolour without any drawing, I went straight in with paint. It made me look harder at the face and made me squint more to simplify the shapes and colours.

Red Dusk

Red dusk

Watercolour | 6.5 x 9 inches I would like to include swirling crows more often in my work as I see it happen quite a lot. George Clausen’s painting “The Rickyards, A Winter Idyll” and Von Zugel’s painting “Heavy Labour” are good paintings that include swirling crows.

Return At Dusk

Return at dusk

Watercolour | 8 x 5 inches This feels like a plein air piece especially with the loose and descriptive brushstroke in the foreground sea. The colour combination of the oranges with the cerulean blue work quite well.

Young Swans

Young Swans

Watercolour | 6.75 x 7.75 inches I usually get really annoyed when the “treeing effect” happens which can be seen just above the horizon; but now I’ve grown to love including it in my watercolours if I can. It’s seen a lot in Brandon Cox paintings.
