I really like paintings that depict the moments after the sun has gone down and you get either a really orange or a silver glow. Early Munnings paintings of Costwick common, The Norwich school and some Clausen painting show this. I got the idea to paint this on a beautiful evening walk with Dad. We walked through the fields from Port Isaac, up to the Castle and sat on the rocks below for a bit before walking home. As darkness fell, hearing the raucous rooks and just about seeing large groups of Peewits getting startled and taking flight, we walked home.
