Watercolour | 6 x 9 inches “The sun had set but the sky was still glowing. I got the photo for this driving through St Kew. I knew instantly it would make a great watercolour.”

Watercolour | 6 x 9 inches “As I was walking back to the car, having been painting on the cliffs, I spotted this lovely subject bathed in the evening sun. The light didn’t last long however, the clouds soon blew over and the inspiration was gone!”

Watercolour | 6 x 8 inches “This painting was taken from the same morning as ‘The Sheep beneath the Moon’. This shows the sheep from the opposite angle and I always find it so amazing how the colours can be so different in the space of a few minutes.”

Watercolour | 6 x 8 inches “I enjoyed painting this, the strong shapes and positioning of the sheep on the mound against a relatively dark background made for a striking subject. Without the glowing moon the painting just wouldn’t have worked.”

Watercolour | 5 x 9 inches “The colours were so rich that watercolour wouldn’t really be the first choice for this subject. I did use gouache to help reinstate some of the punchy lighter colours, especially the lovely lime green beneath the church.”
