“LOOKING OVER”: I love visiting the local herds of cattle and watching them graze, but they are an enquiring bunch on this occasion.

“WHITE BOAT, MORSTON”. It was a real privilege painting alongside David Curtis ROI, RSMA during one of his visits to Norfolk, late 2014. Morston was a great location to choose.

“GOING HOME”: This is a pastel depicting Eric Edwards, Reed cutter from How Hill, Ludham. Eric loved his local landscape and showed me how it could be managed using traditional methods.

“WHITE ROOFS”: Two of my favourite subjects together made this piece easy to paint, cattle in the snow.

“GRAPES AND LEAVES”: I have enjoyed exploring still life subjects in oils and pastels this year and particularly like this contemporary composition of grapes and leaves, not the healthiest looking specimens, as they were from our own grapevine, we leave the fruits for the birds as they are so bitter!

“WOOD BRIDGE”: The light at Woodbridge is fantastic and capturing the distant haze in contrast to the strong light hitting the water was the main objective in this piece, within just a few minutes, the sky had clouded over completely.

“DRINKING TIME”: I was rewarded for my patience with the cattle at Tops Hill approaching their water butt for a drink, it allowed me to take even more photo’s and enjoy observing the sunlight reaching across from the distance and hi-lighting their backs as they drank.

“CRISP LIGHT, ST BENET’S”: I like the warm tones and the red brick in this pastel, contrasting with the cooler tones of the sky reflected in the water.

“VIEW FROM A WINDOW”: We were fortunate enough to being staying in a holiday cottage that offered us uninterrupted views from Newlyn to the rest of Mount’s Bay. I enjoyed watching the weather fronts pass by and catching the sunrise over St Michael’s Mount.

“CATTLE AT TOP’S HILL”: You can just about see the folly nestled amongst the trees in the distance. I have enjoyed using pastels this year to create cattle within their natural landscape.
