Kieron delighted in learning tips and techniques that allowed him to create different effects in his work, scraping a pastel to create sprinkles for example, then rolling a pencil over them to make them stick to the paper! a nightmare when trying to frame up the painting as the sprinkles have a tendency to drop

There was an honesty to Kieron’s work in that he painted the sky as it was… he didn’t tweak it to be better balanced, or chocolate boxy, which is often a temptation. He would try to get his boats to look as if they had ‘swallowed a marble!’ to remind himself to try to create

Sometimes picking the title for Kieron’s work was a headache, it had to be a name that we could easily associate with the painting… Kieron was literally waiting for Fifa to start on the TV and so decided to paint this small vignette to pass the time!

One of the first artists we collected was Jack Cox a local fisherman and artist, his work has been a significant influence on Kieron’s appreciation for the local landscape and the workers within it.

A nerve wracking exhibition when we realised that people had travelled from the US and South Africa to camp outside the gallery to be first in the queue to purchase Kieron’s work… It was a surreal experience!
