This painting reminded me of a poem I read by Lord Alfred Tennyson, I wrote it on the back of the canvas: ‘He rose at dawn and fired with hope, shot o’er the seathing harbour-bar, and reach’d the ship and caught the rope, and whistled to the morning star.’
This barn is in the village of Trunch, I enjoy painting it very much. I enjoyed walking past it early one morning, the sunrise was lovely.
I don’t usually like bright summer colours in a painting, but this scene was so lovely I had to paint it as it was. I like the wet sand especially.
