Oil on board, 7×10″ When I started this painting there was bright sunshine, part way through it started to rain. Pretty undeterred I continued. You can see the green light on the water in the background, this was the bit I kept to remind me that there was sunshine!

Oil on board, 7×10″ This is one of the most stunning subjects near to where we live. I never tire of painting this scene. When we arrived to set up, we startled a flock of crows and I knew that this would be a prominent feature in the piece. I also like the warm tones
Oil on board, 7×10″ The aim here was to capture the first golden shards of sun. Though the sun was not high enough to cast light onto the sheep or the field, I think I made the right decision to have a more appealing sky.

Oil on board, 8×8″ I was able to take complete advantage of a couple of really low tides last year and was able to paint the opposite view into the harbour. It was a very satisfying subject and I hope to repeat again in the afternoon light when I can paint contre-jour.
