“Every now and then, while painting, you know you’re on to a winner. I knew from the first few pencil marks in the drawing that this could be one of the best things I’ve done. It’s a great feeling to work with that confidence and excitement. I never know what my paintings will look like until they’re finished, I don’t have it all worked out in my head beforehand.
