Peering through the gloom

Oil on board | 11 x 8 inches

I was on my bike, as it was a lovely afternoon, I smelt this weird smell, it was familiar but I couldn’t place it! I thought it must have been coming from the garage beside me. But then I heard the banging and then the whinnying of a horse and knew exactly what it was. It was the start of the beautiful summer we had last year the hot days made the horse sweat, so a more interesting sheen formed on the horse because of that. The semi abstract form of the horses head peering through the gloom was enjoyable to paint.
