“I don’t usually like painting clear blue skies in the height of summer, I find the colours too bright and almost flat mainly because there are no soft edges. However, when the subject is this good I just had to work with it. I added some lovely cloud shadow on the distant shingle bank to soften the transition of land to sky.”
