“At -6°c and after a day or two of freezing fog, it was a severe hoarfrost, everything was glimmering white. I’d mistaken the time of sunrise and was waiting about half an hour before I set to work on my painting, such a rookie error! The day before I had made fun of my sister getting cold feet while wearing neoprene wellies, but after an hour or so painting with my boots covered by frosty grass, I fully understood the extent of her misfortune and my own karma!
