“The blossom on the moors this year was stunning. The beautiful evening light only added to the beauty of this subject. The bright, forget-me-not coloured blue sky against the pinky-golden blossom was a joy to paint. The shadows on the grass were almost pure viridian green. It was lovely to be surrounded by such beauty and peace. I could imagine how Munnings felt painting Langham Mill Pond – “to use the word Arcadia here is not affectation.”
