“What a sunset! Elsie drove me to Port Quin. I ran to my desired spot, set-up and got to work. 10 minutes later the sun had set and I had only managed a quick block in (preparatory oil sketch). I continued to work on the painting in the studio, I was pleased with the outcome and felt I’d earned it! I recall thinking that while I was in complete awe of what was before me, there were cars driving away from Port Quin, backs to the sunset, completely oblivious of the beauty behind them!”
