“By chance my girlfriend spotted this scene from a footpath which ran through a local farm. I couldn’t believe my luck as we followed the friendly geese, through the farm, to the frozen pond. Bullocks were wintering in old barns beside the pond, the sound of sheep in distant fields and an inquisitive farm dog who was barking at us both! A more pleasing subject would be hard to find. I used Indian yellow and phthalo blue to achieve the chroma in the light and in the shadows.”
