“It was a beautiful autumn last year in Norfolk. The leaves clung to the trees, with spectacular colour, well into December.

I painted this on an evening in November. There isn’t much better, certainly nothing more peaceful, than painting by a river. Where there’s a river, there is always
something to paint.”
