About the painting:
“I have tried to paint sheep being sheared a couple of times in the past and have been unsuccessful. It’s got to be one of the most challenging subjects to paint. It’s quite possible it is one of the reasons why I can only recall two other significant paintings depicting sheep shearing! This time, I think the added interest of the ancient barn as the backdrop really made this work. The scene depicts a Norfolk shepherd, shearing Norfolk Horn sheep in an old Norfolk barn, for the sake of diversity the young lad in the background is from Lincolnshire! “ Kieron
