Snow Impression Towards Davidstow

Oil on Board | 5.5 x 9 inches

“My girlfriend and I drove to ‘Rough Tor’ for a walk with her family. We could see from Delabole that the moors were covered in snow. We decided to leave the car on the side of the road as it was unlikely we would have made it down and then back up the steep hill leading to the car park in the snow. Once we had walked to the top of the hill I sketched two paintings, treating myself to a piece of Christmas cake and a coffee in between each work. The skies and cloud shadows on the snow were amazing. It was a scintillating painting experience that will be hard to beat … perhaps because I don’t usually eat Christmas cake whilst outside painting!”
