“The light was changing rapidly as the imposing clouds passed across the sun, which in turn meant that the light on the landscape was constantly changing. Halfway through my painting, a horse and rider cantered across the scene and the red jacket set off the greys perfectly, completing the subject. The cheerful flashes of flowering gorse gave added interest to the foreground.”
