The Landscape that surrounds the river Valency is absolutely beautiful in the spring, with blossoming hawthorn bushes and elder blossom, contrasting against the pretty greens of the new buds on the trees. Statuesque foxgloves and cow parsley line the hedgerows and fill the meadows. Whilst painting this I was reminded of numerous paintings Munnings did of blossom and also his paintings and poems of Exmoor. I write this in February, so I’m looking forward to this spring to explore similar subjects.
