Guiding Light

Pastel | 5.75 x 7 inches

“On the way back from an evening swim at Holkham, this beautiful moon was glowing over harvested fields. My sister Billie was driving and we pulled over so my father and I could take some photos. It was one her first times out in her car after passing her test, so I was eager to be getting out! The full moon, or ‘Sturgeon Moon’ as listed in the lunar calendar, was over Aylmerton church. The fields were actually full of hares, but I didn’t elect to include any in this painting in fear of it being too twee … so I focused on the crows flying low over the fields.”
