“My father and I were out painting on a bitterly cold December day, just before we had the big freeze that year. I had in mind a view from Barrow Common, near Brancaster Staithe, but it was no good, it was just a bit flat. We tried our luck in Brancaster and were rewarded with this stunning view. An uncommon subject for me nowadays but I revelled in capturing the glimmer of winter light. I was pleased to warm up my frozen knees and hands in the car on the way home!”
